Its bite can save severed body parts, which is why these valuable helpers are often used by emergency surgeons. Placed around the incision of a reattached finger, nose or ear, the leeches keep blood flowing and help the body reintegrate the part.
Leeches are also used in natural medicine, for example to treat contusions, bruising, vascular diseases or joint wear. They can live for up to two years between feeding.
We will gladly answer your questions about medicinal leeches – stop by the pharmacy!
