Prescriptions from abroad

With us you can redeem prescriptions from the following countries:

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden.
Plus: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland.

We can only honour prescriptions from non-EU countries such as Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, USA, etc. if they have been issued by a German- or EU-approved physician (see EU countries). This must be discernible on the prescription or other document.

We can advise you in 16 languages at Internationale Ludwigs-Apotheke.

This must be written on the prescription:

  • Patient details: First and last name and date of birth

  • Issue date of the prescription

  • Details of the issuing doctor: first and last name, contact details or address of the practice (indicating the country), signature (handwritten or digital).

  • Information on the prescribed drug: its generic name (safer than the brand name, which may vary from country to country), dosage form (tablet, solution, etc.), dosage quantity

For prescription drugs in Germany we need the original prescription, so come to our pharmacy or email us your prescription in advance for us to check.

All prescriptions from abroad are treated as private prescriptions, meaning you pay the German market price for the drug.

Are you outside Germany?

Do you live outside Germany, but need a drug from Germany that is available on prescription here?

  1. Check whether your prescription meets the requirements detailed above.
  2. Please send us the prescription in advance as a photo by email.
  3. You will receive a confirmation of your pre-order from us.
  4. After our review, we need your original prescription before we can send you your prescribed medicine. Please send it by post with your contact information (name, address, email) to:
